I found the book “Una papa en bicicleta” at my local library and my 3 year old daughter simply loved it. Each pages asks a question of whether something can do something or not. With numerous repetitions of “¿Puede?” and “Claro que no”, plus it’s silly nature, I knew instantly that I could also use this book with my Spanish 1 students.

I enlisted my daughter to record a read-aloud of the book with me:

After showing this to my students, I then asked them to come up with 3 phrases of what something can or can not do.
You can have students draw out these silly images or some might even use AI to generate images of these phrases. You can even put what the class creates into a booklet. Read the class examples to give even more input.

It’s a great way to practice new vocabulary or have them learn things like animals, foods, sports, and more! Here’s an example of what it could look like.
