Women’s History Month Spanish resources

March is Women’s History month, although anytime is a great time to highlight the leadership and contributions of strong, latina women in our Spanish class. Here are some ready-to-implement resources for your clase de español.

Dolores Huerta unit:

With the recent revelations about Cesar Chavez, it’s more relevant now than ever to give credit where it’s often lacked: the importance of Dolores Huerta on the farmworkers movement. Our Dolores Huerta unit includes a storyboard about the plight of the farmworkers and an 11-page novice-mid/high level booklet than is comprehenisble for even level 1 students.

From Cali to Mars: A biography
A NASA engineer who immigrated to the US from Cali, Colombia at age 17 and is now a lead engineer part of the space agency’s Mars exploration. Available as both a novice text and intermediate text, this comes with a 1 page bio plus presentation to use in class.

Las Presidentas Display

Hang these printable posters up in your class and let curiosity take over as students see women who have led their countries as Presidents. This free resource includes all 11 female presidents of Latin America.

Las Poderosas Posters

This free resource includes images of influential and important Hispanic women such as Celia Cruz, Selena, and more.
